Here’s a LEGO® tip that surprises a lot of people: you can earn LEGO® Insiders points simply by scanning the QR code on your instruction manuals.
It’s one of the easiest ways to collect points — and many LEGO® fans don’t even realise it exists.
How Scanning LEGO® Instructions Works
Most LEGO® instruction booklets released from 2018 onwards include a QR code on the front or inside cover. When scanned using the LEGO® Builder app, it allows you to register that set to your account.
Once scanned, you’re rewarded with 20 LEGO® Insiders points per set, no matter the price — and this is on top of points you may earn if you bought the set directly from LEGO.com or LEGO Stores, which usually give around 5% back in points.
Why LEGO® Does This
This system encourages builders to:
- Engage digitally with LEGO® content
- Keep instruction manuals rather than throwing them away
- Connect physical LEGO® building with online rewards
It’s also a great way for LEGO® fans to earn points on sets they may have received as gifts.
A Great Activity for Kids (and Adults!)
Scanning instruction manuals can actually be a fun little routine:
- Build the set
- Scan the instructions
- Watch the points increase
For children, it adds another layer of excitement after finishing a build — and introduces them to collecting, saving and choosing rewards.
A Handy Tip
If you’ve got a stack of instruction manuals at home, it’s worth checking which ones include QR codes. You may be sitting on unclaimed LEGO® Insiders points already — and that could mean money off future LEGO® sets.
